About me

Hi, I’m Ole

This is what you will find on all the conference websites

Ole Michaelis is the co-founder of SoCoded, a hackfest and web development conference in Hamburg. He’s a Software Engineer at DNSimple, helping build the Domainautomation management system of tomorrow. In his free time, he’s building slidr.io, a hazzle-free slide sharing platform. Ole is passionate about open source software, enjoys traveling, and loves Mexican food. He classifies himself as a ‘bad’ German as he dislikes beer and soccer – the traditional German past-times.

In a nutshell

I am Ole and coding is my passion. Fluent in a variety of languages and Frameworks (Elixir, Ruby, JavaScript, CoffeeScript, node.js, Rails, express.js, connect and more) I never lost the urge to play around with new stuff, learn it and build amazing applications. Besides all the love I have for code, my top priority is the team I’m working with. I appreciate a strong culture and having a good time with my colleagues is very important to me.

Last but not least, I’m a German. I get things done.

Work history

Jimdo - Software Engineer

since 12/2012

As part of the Design Team I’m responsible for running, maintaining and enhancing the Jimdo template system. Which was the first service running outside the bigger Jimdo system. It’s a Rails api backed by a hand full of (micro) services written in various languages (ruby, node, elixir). Before I was part of the Template-, Independence- and Operations Team.
